Where Education Pays

This still makes me wonder what exactly the "Education Pays" program was beyond signs on state roadways. Jackson County, KY has become the 4th county to cut the school week by the day, believing they can make up the instruction by adding about an hour to each school day. The impetus for the change in this county, much like the others in the state was a budget shortfall (yes, the state tells kids that education pays, but doesn't think it is worth the money to give the kids that education). For this county, they can be excused because the budget shortfall came about because fuel became expensive. But for the state as a whole, it appears the commitment to education is nothing but a prop, a sign to be placed on Interstate 65.
