Sterling's fanclub. . .
I love the internet.
I few days ago, someone made note to snap this caption from CNN. Funny isn't it. Experts have determined that Bin Laden is either dead or alive. Yep, those are some high quality experts. Hilarious, isn't it? I mean what group of Ivy-Tower idiots can you conviene to get this type of useful information. Next, you'll find an expert to alert me the sky is blue. Obviously the mainstream media needs bloggerdom to save them from their stupidity. We need citizen reporters to point at CNN and laugh like Nelson Muntz.
Funny thing about that caption. It can be read as a joke.
How do you ask? Well, if I explain a joke, it kills it. But OK, here goes.
Experts Agree: Leader is Dead or Alive.
That's odd. Looking at that statement, the second half of that line contradicts the first half. How can experts agree if they're offering contradictory opinion. You'd expect that second half of that line to say "Leader is Dead" or "Leader is Alive", but not to say "Leader is Dead or Alive." Having it say "Dead or Alive" is totally the opposite of what you'd expect.
Saying or presenting something that is the opposite of what is expected... hmm... isn't there a word for something like that? Let me think. Oh yeah, that's right, irony!
Perhaps, just perhaps CNN was using a bit of ironic, almost sarcastic humor, at the expense of its experts. We'll never know until we someone can get us audio or a transcript of the segment. That's something I know the blogosphere is well suited for. They'd never resort to just pointing and laughing like Nelson Muntz.
Anyway, I decide to present this alternate explanation to the world. For that, what do I get? A nice new fan by the name of Andrea Harris. Great with math, too. Harris almost got my age right. But that's OK. I love getting new fans. I feel this is going to be the start of a beautiful friendship.
