There should have been a celebration today, as this is the one year anniversary since the fall of Saddam Hussein. Had things worked as planned, Iraq would be well on the way to becoming a shining beacon of liberty, democracy, and self-sufficiency in the Middle East. Most of our soldiers would be back home or deployed elsewhere. There would be celebrations in Baghdad, probably not unlike our Independence Day here, with the exploding of fireworks in the night sky. No, the explosions they are hearing tonight are from gunfire and bombs set off by a resistance that is growing more entrenched and more popular.

What a whacked out war where things are worse one year after victory...

Afghanistan has detreriorated because of neglect. We're actively fucking up Iraq. I'm not sure which is better.

Of course, we screwed up our military's readiness. Allegedly, we're supposed to be able to keep our readiness at the point where we can fight a two front war. If you don't count Iraq as a war, we can't fight a single front war.

I was afraid you found a page where I praised Bush and Cheney and urged war because Saddam obviously had WMDs and was tied to Laden and we would be welcomed with roses and beautiful women.

I'd have to erase everything.
