And now begins the summer season.

With a string of strong storms that developed earlier this evening just to my south in Prince William, Virginia and crossing the Potomac into Maryland, we now open the summer season. We've had our first tornado, which touched down in La Plata, Maryland. Up until recently, we don't see supercell storms in April in Washington (or even in the midwest for that matter.) This was the type of storm that I'd fear would occur whenever I summer in western Kentucky.

Down in Dale City, VA and elsewhere, there were reports of baseball sized hail. Up here, however (about 15 miles north) there was nary a drop of rain.
