Terrorism as a Ends, Yes. Terrorism as a Means, I'm Not Sure.
Well, as expected, Instapundit declares this bit of drama "Islamic terrorism", by Williams' statements of sympathy to Al Qaeda. Yes, he is Muslim (he switched a while back while in the Army), and yes he terrorized this area, however declaring it "Islamic terror" is simplistic beyond all reason. The man was a crazy control freak. He suffered through a terrible divorce. He kidnapped his own kids when he was denied custody. If Al Qaeda didn't exist, and Nine Eleven did not happen, he probably would have snapped eventually! He is a screwed up man, and tying his hands to a political movement, lets him off the hook too easily.
If you're going to use the term Islamofascist, wouldn't it be best if you use it on someone who actually fits the term Fascist? That he favors the destruction of the democracy [this one] and prefers a nation with a centralized dictatorial control or a Islamic religious revolution? Or am I forever banned from the blarghers club?
(Of course, if anything like a money trail hooks him to the Al Qaeda or another terrorism group, I'll gladly eat my words.)
(And Lee Malvo is apparently 20, not 17.)
