POMPANO BEACH — A 17-year-old boy was in jail Thursday afternoon, charged with robbing a city commissioner and three other men at gunpoint last weekend. A second suspect, Joseph Edison, was still being hunted.

The stick-up took place around 11:30 Sunday night on the 900 block of Northwest Sixth Street while the four men took a break outside after a night of card playing inside the Masonic Lodge.

As City Commissioner Edward Phillips and friends Jessie Walker, John Saxon and Jessie Smith talked politics, two armed and masked suspects jumped out of a car and ordered them to take their pants off. Fearing for their lives, all four men complied, stripping down to their underwear.
