...because it's been far too long since the last installment. Never mind that today's Saturday....
Let us celebrate Mexico Fashion Week. with this photo from the AP..

There's an article today on WashingtonPost.com about ethnic beauty pagents, but what I'm really doing is looking for a reason to post the above picture. I've been short on girl pictures for this journal, and the Spring Street Network of personals have been sold off to a company (FastCupid) that now seems to require a paid subscription to view the personal ads. Maybe its one of those extra features of TimesSelect.
Though this time we're doing something different. I haven't drawn a sketch in a while, so I decided to see how much my skills have eroded since I believe January. Anyway, if you click on the little picture, you can see the big version over at Flickr. The sketch is that I've done of this photograph of the adorable little girl. Hopefully, Spanishgirl_in_oxford doesn't mind.
Now, I want comments, and I want them soon... Or next week I start Friday's Old Guys in Speedos
She's almost cute enough to make me want to risk going back to the ruins of Detroit.
Almost.
Meet this week’s ‘Friday’s Girl’. Many in the Spanish-speaking community wake up to her weather reports on “Despierta América,” Univision’s equivalent to the “Today Show”. Jackie Guerrido is the weather presenter for this show, as well as for the afternoon newsmagazine “Primer Impacto,” as well as doing duty for the local affiliate in Miami.
She’s very much a beauty, and Univision is not hesitant to exploit this fact. Look at this feature where she models dresses or casual wear (she even looks fine in a jumpsuit). See more over at The Bastardly, where there’s even an interview (the lucky bastard!).
As I type this, it is expected that the cherry blossoms in Washington are at their peak bloom. It's one of the wonderful sights that make it joy to ive in DC. It also helps to placate the sadness that comes when it comes to finally admitting that winter is over and here will not be another chance for snow for at least six months.
Two days ago, I walked around the Tidal Basin and snapped a dozen photos of the cherry blossom trees. Admittedly, I don't have the best digital camera for the job. (I doubt a $40 camera could be the best at anything. Well, actually it's a Pencam, which probably makes it the best at portability.) Also, it was a pretty cloudy day, so colors were muted. Still, I think the pictures came out rather well.
Speaking of cameras, John Dvorak has penned an interesting column over at PC Magazine about digital cameras. Noting the obvious in that you can't change the film in digital camera, he realizes that the camera itself is the film. In that is the realization that the tricks that professionals used to be able to do by choosing different film will now have to be done through Photoshop filters, or even through the use of different cameras.
Oh, and this woman will be this Friday's Girl.

I love redheads. (But the second one is blonde... Hey, it's red enough for me. Well, here's an actual redhead.)
Again, I always thought that glasses enhanced how a woman looks. I guess it helps to frame the eyes, and eyes are the window into the soul. Or so they say. I also like her smile.
(Also, I'm trying some new coding for picture placement. It's in the template I keep saying I want to use to redesign the journal.)

I always loved a woman in glasses.
She also has a cute smile.
